Our Shiatsu courses consist of 5 days of intensive training in practical Shiatsu techniques. Shiatsu is a Japanese word meaning ”finger pressure”. Shiatsu is an oriental form of massage that evolved in Japan with its ancient origins in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Traditional Chinese Massage or Tui Na. Shiatsu is based on the principal of acupressure, or stimulating the pressure points along a meridian line. Stimulating the pressure points stimulates the “chi” or life force to move within the body, through previously blocked areas. This movement of chi helps relieve muscle tension, emotional imbalances and general stress. It’s somewhat similar to acupuncture but without the needles. Our 5 day Shiatsu course will teach you a complete Shiatsu routine that you can use with any client. As well as the Shiatsu routine you will learn how to adapt the Shiatsu techniques that you learn to suit the individual needs of your client. This Shiatsu course is suitable for people totally new to the healing arts and massage therapy or for already practicing massage therapists. Shiatsu will add a great element of oriental massage techniques to a practitioners’ repertoire. We hold our Shiatsu courses in London, Toronto, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Auckland. If there is enough interest we may also hold our Shiatsu courses in Vancouver and Oahu, Hawaii in the near future. |
